More than 5,000 patients within Norfolk and Waveney have signed up to use the NHS App since its launch. Nationally, the number of patients using the NHS App across the UK has more than doubled since September.
More people than ever before booked NHS appointments digitally choosing to use this route rather than calling their local surgery. In September there were 1.4million GP online service appointment transactions.
NHS staff want to thank patients who have prioritised attending their GP appointment or who have let their practice know when they can’t make it.
Practices in South Norfolk, which are now participating in supportive Primary Care Networks, had the lowest rate of missed GP appointments in England in November 2019 at 3.2%, according to NHS Digital data.
A Norfolk GP practice has seen appointment waiting times reduced by 90% thanks to a new online patient booking system.
Fakenham Medical Practice says waiting times for appointments have reduced from four weeks to either the same day, or within 72 hours, because of the new system which enables patients to go online and request advice or an appointment without having to telephone.
A Stalham GP has been elected as Chair of the new NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
The new CCG will launch on 1 April following the merger of Norfolk and Waveney’s five NHS clinical commissioning organisations.
